The R&S®ESW26 from Rohde & Schwarz is an FFT-based EMI Test Receiver that operates in the frequency range of 1 Hz to 26.5 GHz. This receiver adheres to standards such as CISPR, EN, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, and FCC. It has a high sensitivity due to its low noise characteristics and integrated preselection that includes 21 filters. The receiver features an FFT-based time domain scan (TDS), enabling the simultaneous measurement of large frequency segments instead of relying on individual resolution bandwidths for each observation period, as seen in the conventional stepped scan mode. By utilizing the wideband extension option, the FFT bandwidth can be expanded up to 970 MHz, facilitating the simultaneous measurement of CISPR bands C and D in a single operation.
The R&S®ESW also includes highpass filters operating at 2 MHz and 8 MHz, optimizing conducted sensitivity during power electronic testing. The device even has notch filters for the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz ISM bands that effectively eliminate the impact of high carrier signals, like Bluetooth® or WLAN, on the R&S®ESW's dynamic range, ensuring accurate measurements.
The R&S ESW26 allows users to exchange the R&S ESW standard hard disk drive for an optional solid-state drive (SSD) that contains only the operating system and instrument firmware, thereby preventing leakage of any confidential data from the lab. It integrates various software packages such as LabVIEW, Lab Windows/CVI, and VXI plug & play for remote operation. It is available in an enclosure that measures 462 x 240 x 504 mm and is ideal for mobile and wireless equipment testing applications.
