The CG-515 from Com-Power Corporation is a Comb Generator that operates from 1 MHz to 1.5 GHz. It is a radiated and conducted reference signal source with a user-selectable frequency step size from 1 to 5 MHz. This comb generator has a frequency stability of 20 ppm, an amplitude stability of ± 0.1 dB and a time stability of better than 1 dB over 12 months. It includes one 12-inch antenna for frequencies up to 630 MHz, and one 3-inch antenna for higher frequencies. This generator is designed to operate on battery power to reduce the potential for unwanted reflections caused by external cabling. It includes a 6 V NiMH, 1 Ah battery and, when fully charged, the internal battery pack allows for continuous operation for up to 18 hours. The comb generator includes a ‘Low Battery’ indicator along with an auto-shut-off feature which disables the generator output before the battery voltage drops to the point at which the generator’s output could start to change or become unstable.

The CG-515 is available in an enclosure that measures 7.4 x 7.9 x 7.9 cm (weighs 0.2 kg) and comes with a custom carrying case that houses the generator, both antennas and battery charger. It includes a charging adapter. This comb generator is ideal for quick, pre-test site validations and can perform regular site checks and ensures the consistency and accuracy of radiated measurement data. It can also be used as a signal source for insertion loss measurements of cables, attenuators filters, etc., as well as test site comparisons.
