Overview

EN 16361 specifies requirements and test methods for external and internal power-operated pedestrian door sets, excluding swing types, designed for electro-mechanical, electro-hydraulic, or pneumatic operation. It covers sliding, revolving, balanced, and folding door sets with horizontally moving leaves, including those with integral fanlights and side panels within a single frame. Intended uses include external and internal doors in escape routes and other specific applications, focusing on noise, energy efficiency, tightness, and safety. The standard excludes structural applications, environments with excessive electromagnetic disturbances, and specific types such as EN 14351-1 external door sets, prEN 14351-2 internal door sets, EN 16034 fire-resistant door sets, lift doors, vehicle doors, industrial process doors, partition wall doors, crane gantry fences, turnstiles, and platform doors. Additionally, it does not cover special functions like security or fire aspects in sensitive locations (e.g., banks, airports) or address noise emissions, as they are considered a comfort aspect rather than a hazard.
