TDK India's Nashik Facility Expands Production with Inauguration of New 23,000 Square Meter Building712370

TDK’s Nashik site is expanding its production and has opened a new building covering an area of around 23,000 square meters. Over the next four years, additional lines for the production of DC capacitors for automotive and industrial applications are to be built there. The capacitors will be produced, both for the Indian market and for export.

The new building has been constructed on an approximately 23,000 square meter plot of land adjacent to the plant site and was opened by ECBC CEO Taro Ikushima and Dr. Werner Lohwasser, ECBC COO and TEG CEO and COO. “It is an honor for me to be present here for the inauguration of the new building, which was constructed in a very short time in compliance with all standards,” said Ikushima. “The capacity expansion opens up new opportunities that will contribute to the medium-term growth plan of the company.”

Lohwasser emphasized: “We are strongly focusing on the Indian market and its manufacturing capabilities.”

The expansion was planned in two phases to be completed in October and December 2023. Due to the dedication of Nashik's project team, the first phase was completed just 12 months after the project started last July. Manufacturing will take place on the ground floor, while the first floor will be dedicated to new business development.

Last year, the Nashik plant celebrated its 25th anniversary. During this time, the plant has grown many times over and the recent expansion is a new milestone. Today, the site covers 50,000 square meters and employs more than 1,500 people. “TDK sees new potential for growth opportunities in India and is focused on realizing them,” says HS Banerjee, Executive Chairman of TDK India.

Following the inauguration of the new building, ECBC management visited the factory and received a comprehensive overview of the new project and the existing manufacturing lines. “The new factory building is an asset to the Nashik site and another remarkable milestone in TDK India's journey,” said Prabal Ray, Managing Director and CFO of TDK India. “It also demonstrates our passion for growth and excellence.”
