ETS-Lindgren to Host GLOBALEM 2024 in Austin, Texas712370

The SUMMA Foundation recently announced the selection of ETS-Lindgren as host of the next in-person GLOBALEM 2024 Conference to be held in Austin, Texas. While the actual Conference dates in 2024 have not yet been announced, once the dates are confirmed, the SUMMA Foundation and ETS-Lindgren will make a joint announcement. In the meantime, plans are underway to select the Austin venue in early 2023.

SUMMA Foundation President Edl Schamiloglu reflected on the history of GLOBALEM: “This Conference is unique in that it brings together international experts in high-power electromagnetics. Many may not be aware that the Conference started as a small gathering organized on Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, by the late Dr. Carl Baum as the first Nuclear EMP (electromagnetic pulse) Meeting (NEM) in 1973.

Beginning in 1978, the SUMMA Foundation has sponsored the Conference. In 1994, the Conference was held in Bordeaux, France, as EUROEM and subsequently rotated between Europe and North America as EUROEM and AMEREM, respectively. In 2015, the Conference was organized in Jeju, South Korea, as ASIAEM. Beginning in 2022, the series was renamed GLOBALEM and will continue to rotate annually among North America, Europe, and Asia. On behalf of the SUMMA Foundation that shepherds this Conference series, we look forward to gathering in Austin in 2024!"

Since Austin is near ETS-Lindgren’s world headquarters in Cedar Park, Texas, a technical tour will be held at their facilities during the GLOBALEM 2024 Conference week. Participants will learn about ETS-Lindgren’s manufacturing capabilities for products supporting the R&D relevant to GLOBALEM 2024 attendees. Highlights will include touring ETS-Lindgren’s expanded product line for radio frequency (RF) and EMP/high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) power, signal (sensor), data, and control line filters. The RF Filter product line includes EMP Commercial and Defense Tempest Powerline Filters featuring the popular Model LRX with EMP protection. LRX filters are designed to meet point-of-entry requirements of MIL-STD-188-125-1, -1A, and -2 for short and intermediate pulses while providing high-insertion loss performance for SCIF, TEMPEST, and other military and commercial applications.

The RF Filter product line also includes ETS-Lindgren’s HEMP/EMP Commercial and Defense Non-Tempest Powerline Filters with Red Edge™ Technology to protect against damage to electronic equipment and loss of data caused by a sudden and intense EMP and intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI). These filters offer excellent multi-stage, over-voltage, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and radio frequency interference (RFI) protection. Model LRX-EMP RF Power Line Filters meet or exceed the residual requirements and other norms of MIL-STD-188-125-1A, released by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). Tour attendees will appreciate knowing ETS-Lindgren is the only manufacturer to have its complete Red Edge Filter product line acceptance-tested to the requirements of MIL-STD-188-125 by the independent Little Mountain Test Facility operated by Boeing at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah.

“ETS-Lindgren is honored to continue the legacy of this important global gathering as the organizer of the next in-person GLOBALEM 2024 Conference in Austin, Texas,” said Joel Kellogg, Global Director, Marketing, with ETS-Lindgren. “Our engineers have presented papers and our trusted advisors have participated in the exhibition held at previous editions of the Conference.  The high-quality technical program is impressive. We also acknowledge the responsibility we hold in following prestigious companies in high-power electromagnetics that have organized this Conference in the past, such as Technology Innovation Institute and Metatech Corporation,” Mr. Kellogg added.
