Testing and inspection organization DEKRA will present a comprehensive range of services for increased bicycle safety at the Eurobike trade show in Frankfurt, Germany, from June 21 to 25. In Hall 8, DEKRA will showcase a range of different testing services, material and damage analyses, damage appraisals, and bicycle evaluations. The experts will also present a special innovation: a new pneumatic EMC tester for electric two-wheelers.
The focus of DEKRA’s appearance at Eurobike 2023 will be the high safety standards for electric two-wheel vehicles such as pedelecs, speed pedelecs, personal light electric vehicles, and cargo bikes. Over the past few years, DEKRA has strengthened its commitment to safe two-wheeled transportation. It has significantly expanded its range of services for manufacturers and retailers as well as end customers and users. In addition, it has substantially increased its testing capacity while complying with all widely used safety norms and standards.
Innovation: pneumatic EMC tester
One highlight at the DEKRA booth will be an innovative pneumatic tester that can map all normative operating states for the measurement of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). It can be set up quickly and can efficiently adapt to a wide range of two-wheeled e-bikes.
Due to its smart design, the tester fits on a turntable and eliminates the need for manual rotation, saving time and effort. The tester is placed in a low position and minimizes radiated immunity reflections for precise and reliable irradiation of the test vehicle. The test equipment itself does not emit any electromagnetic radiation, as it is pneumatically operated and does not contain any electronic components. This means that any interference that occurs can be reliably attributed to the test sample.
Solutions for commercial operators and users
Other areas that will feature in DEKRA’s trade show appearance include solutions for companies that provide bikes to their staff. For example, DEKRA runs DEKRA Safety Web, a reliable digital application for professionally training employees who use bicycles in their line of work. DEKRA also offers statutory testing of commercial two-wheelers in line with Germany’s UVV accident prevention regulations.
Ipsos study commissioned
A study conducted jointly with Ipsos will also be presented, covering matters of interest such as customer expectations of the two-wheeler sector. Once again this year, DEKRA has embarked on a market analysis in partnership with public opinion research institute Ipsos. Around 1,000 cyclists were asked a series of questions including what they expect and require from two-wheeler sellers and the sector as a whole. Visitors to DEKRA’s booth (Hall 8, Booth F12) can order a copy of this study free of charge at Eurobike 2023.
