The TC-5063C from TESCOM is a Pneumatic TEM Cell that is designed to operate in the frequency range of 100 MHz to 6 GHz. It provides a shielding effectiveness of more than 60 dB, has a field strength (at the center of the cell) of 13 dB µv/meter at 1 µv input, and a typical path loss of 25 dB (at 1.8 GHz dipole). This TEM cell has a unique termination implementation and is highly effective at measuring RFI for miniature RF devices, specifically mobile phones. An external test signal applied through the input port of this cell generates a consistent and predictable TEM test field inside the cell. The radiation field from a device transmitting in the Cell can also be detected through the port using a test receiver.
The TC-5063C has RS-232C and 3-wire interface for remote control. It is available in a benchtop enclosure that measures 460 x 550 x 840 mm (weighs approximately 33 kg) with N-type and SMA-female RF connectors. This pneumatic TEM cell has numerous applications in receiver sensitivity testing, transmitter radiated power testing and EMI/EMS tests for small wireless devices. The cell’s ability to be operated remotely and its pneumatic open/close functionality makes it highly suitable for applications requiring frequent and extensive use.
