The SGTEL-168 from Com-Power is a Surge Generator that is designed for telecom applications. It is an all-in-one solution for simulating surges, covering Type A, Type B (metallic and longitudinal), and power line surge scenarios. This surge generator complies with ACTA (formerly FCC) Part 68, ANSI/TIA-968-B and Industry Canada CS-03 standards. The Type A and Type B surges are applied through the appropriate A/B/G surge output terminals and the power line surges are typically applied through the integral coupling/decoupling network (CDN), which also serves as the EUT power port. It includes a safety feature that allows connection to an external switch which when turned off which automatically stops producing surges.

The SGTEL-168 is equipped with voltage (1000x1) and current (100x1) monitor ports that can be connected directly to an oscilloscope to verify the peak voltage (open circuit) and peak current (short circuit). It uses TransWare-16 software making it flexible for repeated measurements and manual operations. This surge generator can be controlled remotely via its fiber optic interface and USB converter and can also be controlled locally using the control keypad and the easy-to-read backlit display on the front panel.

The SGTEL-168 is available in a 4U rackmount enclosure that measures 19.7 x 48.3 x 61.6 cm with BNC (female) connectors. It is individually tuned and calibrated to meet the applicable requirements of ANSI/TIA-968-B and Industry Canada CS-03 standards. The calibration data and certificate are provided, with NIST traceability. This generator requires an AC supply.
