The 2208 from Empower RF Systems is a Solid-State Power Amplifier that operates from 1 to 2 GHz. It delivers a pulsed output power of 8 kW (pulse width from 5 to 50 &mus, duty cycle from 0.1 to 10%) with a gain of 69 dB and a gain adjustment range of 20 dB. This amplifier utilizes high-power GaN devices that provide wide frequency response, high gain, high peak power capability, and low distortion. It employs advanced broadband RF matching networks and combining techniques, EMI/RFI filters, fast input and output detectors and built-in DDC with exceptional VSWR protection to achieve exceptional performance, long-term reliability and high efficiency. This SSPA has spurious emissions of -60 dBc and is suitable for radiated immunity testing.
The 2208 is based on Empower&rsquos proprietary scalable technology and can be split into two separate 4 kW units with the purchase of only one 3U controller and the optional accessory kit. It comprises a 3RU controller with a power supply and four 3RU RF power blocks, all of which are air-cooled. This amplifier comes with Manual Gain Control (MGC) as a standard feature and can be controlled via the LCD touch screen, peer-to-peer PC connection, or LAN for remote monitoring, control, and diagnostics. The user interface (GUI) is user-friendly and is accessible through a web browser without the need for any software installation. The control system operates on an embedded Linux operating system and has built-in non-volatile memory, allowing for the storage of multiple user configurations.
This SSPA is available in a 5x3RU enclosure that measures 17.5 x 26.25 x 27.0 inches with N-type and 7/16 (female) connectors. It requires an AC supply from 180 to 260 V and consumes less than 4000 VA of power.
