If the distance used during the calibration of an antenna is much larger than the dimensions of the antenna itself, the calibration data is valid in the far field region of the antenna. In such case even rather large antennas as the BBHA 9120 D broadband horn antenna can be considered as a point-like antenna. If calibration data is needed for a small measuring distance, a sizeable increase of the measuring uncertainties has to be taken into account. This is due to the moving phase center of the antenna. Therefore a dedicated calibration is needed in such case.
