IEC 61000-6-3 sets EMC emission requirements for electrical and electronic devices intended for use in residential, commercial, and light-industrial environments. It covers emissions in the frequency range from 0 Hz to 400 GHz, with exemptions for frequencies where no specific requirement is defined. This standard applies to devices directly connected to low-voltage public mains or a dedicated DC source interfacing with the mains. It also includes battery-operated devices or those powered by non-public low-voltage systems intended for use in specified indoor and outdoor locations. These locations encompass residential properties, retail outlets, business premises, public entertainment areas, outdoor settings like petrol stations and car parks, as well as light-industrial environments such as workshops and laboratories. The standard defines emission test requirements for continuous and transient disturbances, ensuring emitted disturbances from devices operating normally do not hinder the operation of other equipment. Fault conditions of devices are not considered.
