Overview

IEC 61000-3-2:2014 sets limits on harmonic currents injected into public supply systems by electrical and electronic equipment with input currents up to 16 A per phase. It applies to devices connected to low voltage distribution systems, including non-professional arc welding equipment, but excludes professional arc welding equipment as specified in IEC 60974-1. This fourth edition replaces the 2005 edition and its amendments, introducing significant updates such as improved measurement repeatability, revised test conditions for various equipment types (including IT equipment, washing machines, audio amplifiers, lamps, vacuum cleaners, and arc welding equipment), and the reclassification of variable-speed refrigerators and freezers into Class D. Test conditions for specific equipment are detailed in Annex C, and the standard includes a simplified test method for minor equipment updates.
