This standard addresses electromagnetic emissions (radio frequency protection) from machine tools intended for industrial and similar purposes. It applies to machine tools powered by electricity with a rated voltage not exceeding 1,000 V AC or 1,500 V DC between lines. These tools may include motors, heating elements, or a combination thereof, and may incorporate electric or electronic circuitry. The standard excludes electro-discharge machines (EDM) and does not cover fixed installations as defined in the European Commission's Guide to the Application of Directive 89/336/EEC. Emission requirements are specified for the frequency range from 9 kHz to 400 GHz, and measurements are not required at frequencies where no specific requirements are defined.
