Overview

This standard applies to electrical equipment that uses signals in the frequency range of 3 kHz to 148.5 kHz to transmit information over low-voltage electrical systems, whether on the public electricity distribution network or within consumer premises. It specifies frequency bands for different applications, limits for terminal output voltage within the operating band, and limits for conducted and radiated disturbances, along with measurement methods. It does not address modulation or coding methods, nor functional features, except for preventing mutual interference. Environmental requirements and tests are not included.

Note 1: Compliance with this standard does not permit communication with locations outside the consumer's installation or with other consumers via the public electricity distribution network unless otherwise allowed. The standard aims to limit mutual influence between transmission equipment and to reduce interference to sensitive electronic devices, though complete immunity cannot be guaranteed.

Note 2: Designers should consider signaling systems conforming to this standard when assessing immunity for electrical equipment.
