Microwave Vision Group (MVG), a company that provides systems, services and solutions that allow for the visualization of electromagnetic waves for the characterization of antennas as well as EMC testing, has introduced planar near-field probes that offer a broadband dual-polarized design, allowing for faster measurement times in the near-field region during testing. They also deliver superior quality by ensuring low backscattering using minimum waveguide cross-section for more accurate results.

Building on this foundation, the MVG Dual Linear Polarized Minimum Scattering Probe for Planar Near-Field (PNF) delivers dual linear polarization with high on-axis polarization purity and isolation. This eliminates nulls in the forward radiation pattern and minimizes back-scattering. Their precision-machined probe provides accurate horizontal and vertical results efficiently. Its wideband and low dispersion capabilities address limitations and high scattering issues in PNF measurements with short probe-AUT distances. The probe integrates well with various PNF systems, delivering fast and precise results without interference.

The probes currently offered by MVG include: DLP-PNF-100, DLP-PNF-120, DLP-PNF-200, DLP-PNF-400, DLP-PNF-650, DLP-PNF-800, DLP-PNF-1000, DLP-PNF-1800, DLP-PNF-3300, and DLP-PNF-5000. These probes operate over a wide frequency range starting from 800 MHz all the way up to 75 GHz for broadband testing. They provide a gain of up to 8.5 dBi with a VSWR of less than 1.9:1. These near-field probes provide a port-to-port isolation of better than 45 dB with a cross-polar discrimination of more than 35 dB, which ensures accurate RF measurements. All the probes have an impedance of 50 ohms.

The PNF probes also support RF absorber panels to integrate absorbers that absorb undesirable signal reflections during measurements. They are available in Aluminum housings equipped with 3.5 mm (female)/2.92 mm (female)/2.4 mm (female) connectors and WR-15 waveguide interface.

DLP-PNF probes have also been successfully installed on other companies' PNF systems to bring out their best, by yielding the fastest and most accurate measurement results.
