MinebeaMitsumi, a Japanese company, has opened a new R&D centre in Košice. It is said to help expand the production program, enhance the development of new products and applications for the automotive market, and the development of electric motors for industrial use.
“This new R&D facility is proof of our commitment to driving technological progress and supporting the local economy,” said Yoshihisa Kainuma, CEO of the MinebeaMitsumi Group in Japan, as cited in the press release. The new facility is intended to intensify cooperation with the Technical University of Košice and other universities.
Modern test laboratory. The centre will specialise in developing industrial and automotive solutions for BLDC motors, actuators, software design, and software testing, thus shaping and enriching the local industrial landscape.
A particular highlight is the test laboratory for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), one of the most modern in Europe. It complies with the strict CISPR 25 standards of the automotive industry, and enables advanced testing to ensure the highest quality and reliability of products.
“We are excited about the opportunities this new facility will offer,” said Joerg Hoffmann, MinebeaMitsumi General Manager of Regional Affairs for Europe.
Turning Košice into Slovakia’s technological leader
The inauguration of the centre was attended by Košice vice-mayor Marcel Gibóda, who highlighted the significance of the company for the city. He stressed that the long-term objective is to turn Košice into Slovakia’s technological leader where a highly-skilled population will find work.
“Working with companies like MinebeaMitsumi is the path to achieve this goal,” said Gibóda as cited by the SITA newswire. “Creating jobs with high added value opportunities for people with skills can help us stem the tide of our most talented young people” he added.
