Experts from ANSI to Discuss EMC and Wireless Industry Test Standards at ETS-Lindgren’s Headquarters712370

Active technical contributors to the American National Standards Committee (ANSC) C63 on EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) will convene at ETS-Lindgren’s corporate headquarters in Cedar Park, Texas, from Monday, May 16 to Friday, May 20, 2022. Industry experts will address updates to existing key standards maintained by ANSC C63, such as the industry flagship ANSI C63.4 “Methods of Measurement of Radio-Noise Emissions from Low-Voltage Electrical and Electronic Equipment in the Range of 9 kHz to 40 GHz.”

Development of new standards will also be addressed, including the EMC standard ANSI C63.25.2 “Validation Methods for Radiated Emission Test Sites, 30 MHz to 1 GHz,” as well as revisions to the next edition of the wireless standard C63.26 “Procedures for Compliance Testing of Transmitters Used in Licensed Radio Services.”

Rules issued by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) often incorporate reference to the ANSC C63 standards to ensure products and services related to EMC and wireless meet the intended regulatory requirements. Manufacturers of electronic equipment – such as laptops and wireless devices – sold in the US must document compliance with the FCC Rules. This requirement also extends to electronic and wireless products sold in Canada, which has adopted some of the ANSC C63 standards.

“We are happy to host the ANSC C63 meetings at our facility,” said Bill Giacone, Senior Vice President, Global Sales, and Marketing, with ETS-Lindgren. “Contributing our technical expertise to standards that advance technology in our industry benefits manufacturers and consumers. We have a long history of industry involvement and are happy to support the ANSC C63 committee by providing meeting space as well as access to our EMC and Wireless Test Chambers on site. Supporting the working groups with lab time provides a jump start to developing these important standards,” he added.

In light of the significance of the aforementioned ANSI C63.4 and C63.25.2 standards to designers of electrical and electronic equipment, as well as to users of commercial and in-house EMC test chambers, respectively, experts from ANSC C63 will provide an educational webinar to present the new test requirements specified in these standards. The webinar will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 8:00 to 9:30 am PDT.
