ETS-Lindgren to Exhibit Technical Contributions at EMC+SIPI 2023712370

ETS-Lindgren has announced its technical contributions to the 2023 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Signal & Power Integrity (SIPI). The EMC+SIPI Symposium will be held in person from July 31 to August 4, 2023, at the DeVos Place Convention Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Contributions include multiple invited presentations in six tutorials on a wide variety of topics, as well as a technical paper, two hardware demonstrations, and a speaker on an “Ask the Experts” panel. ETS-Lindgren is also proud to be a Symposium Sponsor and to support the IEEE EMC Society. Exhibit hours are scheduled from 9:30 am to 4 pm EDT on August 1; from 10 am to 5 pm EDT on August 2; and from 10 am to 1 pm EDT on August 3.

ETS-Lindgren's technical contributions begin on Monday morning, July 31, with two tutorials. The morning sessions are scheduled from 8 am to 12:30 pm EDT each day. Garth D’Abreu, ETS-Lindgren’s Director of Automotive Solutions, will start the day with the tutorial “Automotive EMC Standards Update” as part of the Symposium’s “Standards Week” special track. He will co-chair this tutorial with Craig Fanning of Elite Electronic Engineering. Mr. D’Abreu will present “Evaluating Measurement Repeatability Challenges in Reverberation Chambers” with the support of Jack McFadden, ETS-Lindgren’s EMC Systems Engineer. Speakers from Elite, TÜV Rheinland, Aptiv - Signal and Power Solutions, and Continental Automotive Systems round out the technical program.

In the Monday morning session, Zhong Chen, ETS-Lindgren’s Director of RF Engineering, will present the tutorial “American National Standards Committee (ANSC) C63® – Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).” His presentation will provide insights into the C63.25 series standards on EMC test site validation measurements, including C63.25.1 (1 GHz to 18 GHz) and C63.25.2 (30 MHz to 1000 MHz). Other speakers in this Standards Week tutorial represent ANSC C63 member companies Hoolihan EMC Consulting, Cisco Systems, Intertek, and Signify North America Corporation.

The afternoon sessions are scheduled from 1:30 to 6 pm EDT each day. Mr. McFadden will present “EMC Test Planning” and co-chair this tutorial session with Bob Mitchell of TÜV Rheinland. Mr. Mitchell will also present in this session, which features speakers from De Montfort University, Gibbs & Cox, and Clemson University/LearnEMC.

In parallel with the afternoon session above, Mr. D’Abreu will continue with automotive topics on Monday in the tutorial “Automotive EMC, ESD, and SI Design Considerations and Test Methodologies.” In this session he co-chairs with Robert Kado of Stellantis US, Mr. D’Abreu will present “Multi-Purpose Test Environments for Modern Vehicles.” Additional presentations include contributions from Aptiv - Signal and Power Solutions, Ford Motor Company, Analog Devices Inc., and Rohde & Schwarz.

ETS-Lindgren’s RF Engineer Yibo Wang is the principal author of the paper “A Versatile Fourier Domain Filtering Library for Diverse Applications” scheduled for presentation on Tuesday, August 1, from 4:30 to 5 pm. Co-authored with Mr. Chen as well as Andrew Shyne and Dennis Lewis of The Boeing Company, this paper will be presented as part of the Technical Papers sessions.

ETS-Lindgren’s Director of Business Development, Tara Kellogg, will co-chair the tutorial “Recent Advancements in HPEM, HEMP, and IEMI Protection – A Global Perspective” with Chaouki Kasmi of Technology Innovation Institute. This tutorial is scheduled on Wednesday, August 2, from 1:30 to 6 pm. Sergio Longoria, ETS-Lindgren’s RF Filters Product Line Technical Manager, will present “Protection with Power/Signal Filters for HPEM Applications Including the New MIL-STD-188-125-1A HEMP Requirement” with complementary presentations given by global experts Frank Sabath of Bundeswehr Research Institute for Protective Technologies and NBC Protection (Germany) as well as Ryan Marietta with CenterPoint Energy (US) and Mr. Kasmi (United Arab Emirates).

ETS-Lindgren’s technical contributions will continue Friday afternoon, August 4, with the tutorial “Recent Advancements in Measurement Uncertainty.” Co-chaired by ETS-Lindgren’s Janet O’Neil, Customer Relations Manager, and Mr. Chen, this session features measurement uncertainty experts, including speakers from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), and The Boeing Company. Mr. Chen will present “Site Contributions to MU for Above 1 GHz EMC Measurements.”

To conclude the company’s contributions to the technical program, ETS-Lindgren will participate in the “Ask at the Experts” panel and showcase two demonstrations. Mr. D’Abreu will share his expertise on Tuesday, August 1, from 1:30 to 3 pm EDT during the panel session “EMC Challenges of Automotive Electrification.” The distinguished panelists also include representatives from Rivian, Ford Motor Company, Stellantis US, and TÜV Rheinland. As part of the popular “Experiments and Demonstrations” program, Mr. Chen will provide the demonstration “A Novel Cylindrical Mode Filtered SVSWR Method for Above 18 GHz EMC Test Site Evaluation” from 2 to 4 pm on Tuesday, August 1. Mr. Wang and Mr. Shyne will provide the demonstration “A Recently Developed Gating Library for Enhanced Post-Processing” from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, August 3.

Besides contributing to the technical program, ETS-Lindgren will provide support for a social event and two technical tours. Ms. Kellogg, who serves as the IEEE EMC Society Women in Engineering (WIE) Americas Co-Chair, will co-host a free WIE networking and enrichment event on Wednesday, August 2, from 3 to 5 pm. Ms. Kellogg’s Co-Chair, Dr. Mariya S. Antyufeyeva (V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University) will be on hand as well to welcome a Clemson University Professor Emeritus and women engineers from United Arab Emirates’ Directed Energy Research Center.
