ETS-Lindgren announced expansion of its production line for radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic pulse (EMP)/high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) Power, Signal (Sensor), Data, and Control line filters. Located at the company’s global headquarters in Cedar Park, Texas, the expanded production line enables ETS-Lindgren to increase its manufacturing capacity and expedite filter shipments to customers worldwide.
Filter production includes ETS-Lindgren’s EMP Commercial and Defense Tempest Powerline Filters that feature the popular Model LRX with EMP protection. LRX filters are designed to meet point-of-entry requirements of MIL-STD-188-125-1 and -2 for short and intermediate pulses while providing high-insertion loss performance for SCIF, TEMPEST, and other military and commercial applications. Filter production also includes ETS-Lindgren’s HEMP/EMP Commercial and Defense Non-Tempest Powerline Filters with Red Edge™ Technology to protect against damage to electronic equipment and loss of data caused by a sudden and intense EMP and intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI). These filters provide excellent multi-stage, over-voltage, and electromagnetic interference (EMI)/radio frequency interference (RFI) protection.
In addition to Power, Signal (Sensor), Data, and Control line filters, ETS-Lindgren provide custom RF and EMP filters to meet specific requirements, such as configuration, performance, and power level. These made-to-order filters are also manufactured utilizing the expanded production line.
To ensure high quality, ETS-Lindgren is the only manufacturer to have its complete Red Edge filter product line acceptance-tested to the requirements of MIL-STD-188-125 by an independent lab: Little Mountain Test Facility operated by Boeing at Hill Air Force Base, in Ogden, Utah (test report available on request). ETS-Lindgren filters also comply with industry standards such as UL 1283, MIL-STD-220, MIL-F-15733, and IEC 60939.
“We are fortunate to have experienced tremendous growth in our RF and EMP filter product line. With this expanded production line, we can be more agile and ship our products faster to meet our customers’ internal schedules,” said Mark Mawdsley, Senior Vice-President, Global Operations with ETS-Lindgren. “We understand and appreciate the key role our filters play in completing our customer’s construction and new facility projects. By expediting delivery of our RF and EMP filters, we can better serve our customers in meeting their target completion dates.”
Sergio Longoria, RF Filters Product Line Technical Manager with ETS-Lindgren, advised, “It was a challenge meeting the increased customer demand for our filters with our original manufacturing and production line. With the growing demand for our Model LFPRX EMP Filters in particular, which are an inherently large size due to their high ampere ratings, we needed additional manufacturing space to increase production and expedite our delivery schedules.” Reflecting on the newly expanded production line and numerous benefits to ETS-Lindgren’s customers, he added, “The new production line was a companywide effort involving our customer service and sales teams, with full support from top management. Once we agreed on the expansion details, our veteran manufacturing and operations teams lent their expertise to ensure we could continue to shorten lead times. Our customers are happy to receive our filters faster, without sacrificing the high quality for which we are well known.”
