The SUMMA Foundation and ETS-Lindgren, the co-hosts of the in-person GlobalEM 2024 Symposium to be held on July 14 to 19, 2024, in Austin, Texas, at the AT&T Conference Center, has announced the Final Program.  The Conference Center is adjacent to the beautiful University of Texas at Austin campus, near many restaurants and shops downtown, as well as close to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

The Conference Center is located downtown, adjacent to the beautiful University of Texas at Austin campus.  With nearly 60 Papers, six in-depth Tutorials, a Keynote, and Plenary Presentations, the Program features many topics related to HPEM.  Social events are also outlined in the Program, including excellent networking opportunities such as the Welcome Reception on Sunday, July 14, and the Gala Banquet on Wednesday, July 17, where awards will be presented to recognize outstanding technical contributions to the global scientific community.  An exhibition will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 16 and 17, featuring Symposium Platinum Sponsors ETS-Lindgren and Technology Innovation Institute; Gold Sponsor ITOPP; Silver Sponsors Absolute EMC, KER, and montena as well as exhibitors Advanced Test Equipment Corp., APELC and ArmagCorporation.

“We realize people are incredibly busy these days and make last-minute travel plans.  As such, we offer onsite registrations for the GlobalEM Symposium.  You are encouraged to review the Final Program; if a Tutorial, Paper, and/or the Exhibition interests you, join us onsite and register for one day or the entire week,” said Janet O’Neil , Customer Relations Manager, with ETS-Lindgren.  “This is the first time the GlobalEM Symposium has returned to the United States since 2018, so we expect a nice reunion of old and new acquaintances.  I suggest you take advantage of having the global experts in HPEM in one place at one time in Austin!” she added.

The Symposium concludes on Friday, July 19, with a Technical Tour of ETS-Lindgren’s world headquarters in nearby Cedar Park, Texas.  Participants will learn about the company’s manufacturing capabilities for products supporting the R&D relevant to GlobalEM 2024 Symposium attendees.  Highlights of the tour include the expanded production line for radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) / high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) power, signal (sensor), data, and control line filters.  The RF Filter product line includes EMP Commercial and Defense Tempest Powerline Filters, featuring the popular Model LRX with EMP protection and ETS-Lindgren’s HEMP/ EMP Commercial and Defense Non-Tempest Powerline Filterswith Red Edge™ Technology.  These filters protect against damage to electronic equipment and loss of data caused by a sudden and intense EMP, HEMP, as well as intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI).

Sergio Longoria, Product Line Technical Manager, RF Filters with ETS-Lindgren, will give three presentations related to EMP filters during the GlobalEM Symposium including “Revisiting the Design Ideas Behind the Mitigation of Conducted HEMP and IEMI” as part of Plenary Session 1 on Wednesday, July 17.  On Thursday, July 18, he will present both “Design of a HEMP Protection Power Filter to Meet MIL-STD-188-125-1A” and “Design of a 10 kbps and 128 kbps Data Filter with HEMP Protection."  Mr. Longoria has presented at multiple editions of the GlobalEM Symposium.  “I enjoy contributing papers to this technical program; not only can I share my expertise, but I can gain valuable feedback and insights from my peers who attend the GlobalEM Symposium.  This gathering is unique in that it brings together the world’s experts who have the common goal of advancing HPEM technology.  We all benefit from the technical exchanges following the presentations.”

Ms. O’Neil and Joel Kellogg, Subject Matter Expert and Global Marketing Director with ETS-Lindgren, are organizing the Symposium.  Industry expert William (Bill) A. Radasky, Ph.D., President and Managing Engineer of Metatech Corporation, is chairing the Technical Program with the able assistance of Technical Program Vice Chair Nicolas Mora, Ph.D., Research and Extension Directorate Advisor at the National University of Colombia.
