The SESD 216 from Schlöder is an ESD Test Simulator that is designed to comply with the requirements of IEC/EN 61000-4-2. It supports air discharge or contact discharge methods depending on the test object and test setup. In the air discharge method, the pulse is triggered by approaching the simulator towards the DUT while with the method of contact discharge the probe of the generator is placed directly on the test object. This test simulator can generate air discharge voltage of up to 16.5 kV, contact discharge voltage of up to 10 kV and can perform single/repeated air discharge tests along with single pulse contact discharge tests. It supports positive and negative polarity of the output voltage and has a holding time of more than 5 sec.
The SESD 216 has self-test feature that saves time while calibrations are done. It can be battery or mains operated and the battery can be recharged using the supplied charger. This ESD test simulator has a display that shows a loading bar to indicate the progress of the charging process. It remains functional even if tests are beyond normal limits. This simulator is available in an enclosure that weighs 3.2 Kg.
